Why masturbating is good for women

Masturbating has very real benefits for women. Those who do have happier and healthier sex lives, research has shown. Still need a little convincing? Read on to find out why.

It’s normal

Does the thought of masturbating embarrass you? Or makes you a tad nervous? Maybe you have begun to explore your sexual body but feel you could never tell a soul.

These feelings are definitely understandable. And you’re not the only woman to have them.

Not surprisingly, research has shown that guys masturbate a lot more than women – and that they get started at an earlier age. Part of this might be biology. Men have a higher sex drive on average and tend to have more regular contact with their penises (like every time they pee) than women do with their clitorise.

Masturbation gap

But society also has a whole lot to do with the ‘masturbation gap’ between guys and gals, recent research suggests. In most cultures, it’s considered normal for a man to have sex on the brain at all times – and natural for him to masturbate

But when it comes to women, it’s not seen in quite the same way.

And it’s time to change the perception. Masturbating has very real benefits for women. Those who do have happier and healthier sex lives, research has shown. The link between going it alone and enjoying sex with a partner is stronger for women than it is for men.

More orgasms

The reason? Orgasms can sometimes be hard to come by for women, especially in their teens or young adulthood. Women who masturbate at this stage in their life have a better chance of reaching orgasm when they’re with a partner.

That makes good sense. Masturbation is a way to get to know your sexual body.  It’s a way to learn what drives you wild and what turns you off. And once you do, you’ll be able to teach your partner.
