Auntyji says, ‘Beta I have been saying this for long, jab beemari hee nahin to illaj kaisa? What will we ‘treat’ if there is no illness?’
Who decides?
Anmol – like your name you are – anmol. Precious! Nothing is wrong with you and now I cannot even say you are ‘different’. No, you are just as normal as the person next to you! Ek dum regular.
Beemari is in the thinking of those awful people who treat others meanly and poorly, based on their sexual identity. Today it is this, tomorrow it will be caste, next religion, then the jobs we do… the list is endless. If someone is not exactly like you, does that mean something is wrong with them? That everyone can claim – to normal kaun bacha?
Who needs help?
Do not fall a trap to these rubbish claims, by neems hakeems, fancy doctors or babas! You have been born with this body, this orientation and there is nothing that will change it. All that needs to change is your own acceptance of it and then for the rest of the world to do the same. It’s not aassan, I understand. But believing that something will cure this is absurd and unnatural.
It’s your life and it’s your body. You want to share it with another man or maybe a woman. There is nothing in this that needs ‘correction’ or ‘curing’. Homosexuality is as natural as heterosexuality and done let anyone tell you otherwise.
You are OK – I am OK
Anmol – embrace yourself beta. Love yourself for who you are, what you are – don’t let society ‘fix you’. You are a good human being? A good son, brother, lover, player, singer, student, neighbour… and so many other such attributes? Yes? So does all that change because you are gay – it does not.
Acts of violence
Pata hai beta – at one time people used to treat homosexuality with electric shocks. Imagine they used to shock people into ‘normalcy’ – how barbaric is that? It was considered a ‘mental problem’ but was soon revoked and discarded. And yet, in spite of all these things being banned, we still live under a shadow of what is ok and what is abnormal.
Is there any sense in this? Don’t get fazed. Read and find out about more gay people around you. Let me assure you there will be many who have lived and experienced what you have – what you are.
Take care of yourself and keep away from these senseless claims… made by some seemingly sensible people. Koi good sense ki goli nahin hai? I will personally administer to a few ‘sensible straight people.’
