Fresh breath for fresh kisses

Imagine you're leaning in for the big kiss, and your partner backs away. Horror of horrors, right? Here are some tips on fresh breath for your perfect kiss...
  1. Brush! Brush! Brush!Don't just brush in the morning, you should brush at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste. Spend at least four to five minutes ensuring you manage to give each of your 32 teeth a good scrubbing.

  2. Floss everyday… Floss at least once a day, every day. Small pieces of food tend to get caught between your teeth and cause bacteria which in turn leans to bad breath. Flossing will help to rectify this issue.

  3. Your tongue's important too… A lot of bacteria tends to build up on your tongue, especially at the back of your tongue, so it's important that you clean it well. A tongue scraper/cleaner is a good idea and is available at most chemists at cheap prices.

  4. Use mouthwash… If just brushing and flossing are not helping, you might want to consider adding mouthwash to your daily routine as well. It will give your breath a minty fresh smell.

  5. Drink plenty of water… A dry mouth due to dehydration is a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. So drink a lot of fluids, especially water which will keep bacteria away.

  6. Sort out any tummy troubles... An upset stomach due to acid or gas can cause your breath to smell when you burp. Taking some medicine to cure out your acidity troubles will give you respite from bad breath.

  7. Avoid onions and garlic… Out on a big date? Then avoid eating anything with onion or garlic in it which makes breath extra stinky. Eat plenty of green vegetables and avoid milk, caffeine or alcohol.

  8. Keep mints handy… One easy way to battle the issue is to always have some chewing gum or mints handy in your bag or in your pocket. Pop some into your mouth after every snack or meal and it will keep bad breath at bay!

  9. Gargle with lemon… The natural properties of lemon are good at keeping bad breath away. So gargle with lemon and water every day and not just when you're brushing your teeth but you can gargle with lemon throughout the day.

  10. Check for a sinus infection… A little known cause of bad breath is an infection of your sinuses. So if you suddenly develop bad breath, it might be worth taking a trip to your doctor to see if you have an infection instead.

  11. Go for regular dental check-ups… It is a good idea to make a point of going to the dentist at least twice a year. A regular check-up and cleaning of your teeth can get rid of bacteria and help you have fresh breath.
