Auntyji says... The penis is such a sensitive part of the body also used with others, so it makes sense to keep it as clean as possible. No?
The simple answer to your question is yes, it’s nice to keep clean and wash after ejaculation. Though you don’t need to scramble out of bed and rush to the nearest tap – take it easy!
There are a couple of things you need to remember – regular cleanliness and cleaning after ejaculation. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a few minutes a day will keep you and your penis happy in the long run.
Odour
The first thing is fairly obvious. Just like the rest of your body parts, don’t forget to give a good scrub down there during your bath.
If you’re uncircumcised, you should roll back your foreskin and clean it gently but thoroughly with water.
In fact, if you don’t wash underneath your foreskin, a cheesy-looking substance called smegma might accumulate. Don’t worry, it’s just a natural lubricant meant to help you out. It’s made up of skin oils and shed skin cells. But if not washed off properly, it might cause redness or swell in the penis. And it will smell!
The next thing, betaji is to pay a little bit extra attention to your testicles. As they’re just adjacent to your sweat glands, and not far from your anus either, they can potentially develop a foul odour. Rather avoidable, no?
Delicate
Do remember that your penis is a very sensitive part of your anatomy. It’s not a good idea to use soap to wash under your foreskin if you’re uncircumcised. The delicate skin of the head of your penis is mucus membrane, and soap can upset its natural balance of bacteria. This could make you more likely to get fungal infections. So a good regular wash with water is best.
And despite the temptations and contrary to your mates’ advice, don’t spray deodorant or any other chemical substance down there. Your delicate parts could become very irritated.
After ejaculating
Finally, let’s talk about post-ejaculation care. After masturbation or a sexual encounter, it’s highly advisable to wash your penis with water, even if you are using a condom. Any kind of body fluid should be rinsed off as soon as possible. And again, don’t forget to pull back the foreskin, and clean it thoroughly. If not properly cleaned, it will get smelly, and more likely to get inflamed or infected.
Arguably, your penis is the most important part of your body – or at least maybe your favourite part! So you ought to invest a bit of time in it. I say, don’t go overboard. But do take good care of your penis and, as they say, it will take good care of you in return.
