Aarav and Meera's friendship started in college. Along with friendship, there was also a strange chemistry between them. Late night talks, constant chatting and sometimes physical intimacy but whenever Meera asked, "Aarav, what is it really between us?" Aarav always smiled and said, "Just vibe… why do we need labels?"
Initially Meera liked this casual style. She thought maybe Aarav needed some time for commitment but slowly she realized that she was compromising with her heart. Whenever she met Aarav, the moments seemed magical and everything felt great.
Holding him in her arms, his closeness and caressing Meera's neck during sex. All this was an expression of love for Meera but for Aarav it was just a “connection” which had no clear definition and no promise. She realized she was trapped in a situationship, where there was closeness and hope, but no clarity.
Meera talked to her best friend. She said that she already knew that Aarav was just passing time with her. He was not serious about this relationship at all. The next day Meera called Aarav and said, “I like you, maybe even love you, but I want a partner who understands me, values my feelings, and gives me an identity, not just a ‘vibe.” Aarav remained silent. He had no answer.
After a while of silence, Meera made her decision and said, “I don’t want to be confused anymore. If you are not ready, I will be ready for myself.” From that day on, Meera listened to her heart.
She understood that she cannot play the game of situationship. Meera needs someone who makes her feel that Meera’s presence is very important for the other person. Her partner should also have the same feeling that Meera has.
After this, Meera immediately updated her Tinder bio and wrote that she wants a real boyfriend – sorry people who do situationship and ghosting. Moments of comfort are fleeting, but self-respect and a loving relationship bring lasting peace.
